Partner Relationship Problems

When it comes to relationships, it's helpful to remember that no one was born knowing how to be a great partner.  True, some people were fortunate enough to have parents who modeled what a successful relationship could look like.  But for many people, learning to be a good partner simply takes time and practice.

At East-West Coaching & Psychotherapy, we believe successful relationships are based on the ability to first manage one's own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and secondly learning to effectively communicate with and listen to a partner.

Much of our relationship work is based on the pioneering research of Drs. John and Julie Gottman, a husband-wife psychologist team based in Seattle. The Gottmans have done some of the most extensive research-to-date differentiating successful from unsuccessful couples, and it is their findings that inform much of the work we do at East-West Psychotherapy.
